IsoKristiina is the largest shopping centre in the province of South Karelia.
Shopping centre IsoKristiina is a popular shopping and meeting place in the heart of Lappeenranta. This covered shopping centre aisle houses almost 40 stores - from individual brand and specialty stores to large retail chain outlets. Located next to Hotel Lappee and the City Hall in the heart of Lappeenranta, IsoKristiina is on your way, no matter where you are coming from. Express bus, charter bus and local bus stops are close to the shopping centre. The railway station is within a 10-minute walking distance. There are ample parking facilities for clients who come by car.
On weekdays, IsoKristiina is visited by some 7,500 customers, on Saturdays by 6,000 and on Sundays, by 1,000. The number of inhabitants in the catchment area is 58,000, with 29,100 households.

Citycon plans to expand and redevelop the shopping centre IsoKristiina, located in the centre of Lappeenranta City. The commercial concept of IsoKristiina will be updated to meet better with the needs of town center shopping customers. The specialty retail offering will be expanded in the redevelopment project. Also the variety of cafe and restaurant services will grow.
The IsoKristiina redevelopment project is internationally unique, since the plan is to place the new premises of the Lappeenranta City Theatre inside IsoKristiina. The combination of the theatre and the shopping centre creates new, appealing city centre space. There are indeed several synergies between the shopping centre and theatre. The theatre stages can be used for many purposes, for example for conferences or fashion shows. On the other hand, the theatre strengthens the customer flow in the shops and especially in the cafes and restaurants.
Lappeenranta is a strong university city, located close to the Russian border. The Russian tax free shopping is a heavy engine of growth in the Lappeenranta area. The value of the tax free sales in the Lappeenranta area is already higher than in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The tax free sales and Russian customer flow are expected to grow heavily and boost the purchasing power in the Lappeenranta area. |
