Citycon and NCC Property Development were granted a planning reservation for land use involving the metro station to be located in Matinkylä Espoo, which will be the end station of the western metro line in the first phase of metro project. The planning reservation includes the metro station, feeder bus terminal and significant amount of retail space. The new retail premises will be realized as an extension of the shopping centre Iso Omena.
If it becomes materialized, the extension part will add 50 per cent more leasable area to Iso Omena. The metro hub and shopping center extension will be build at the same time as the metro line. The goal is to start at the construction works in the beginning of 2012. The new metro station and the extended Iso Omena is scheduled to open in 2015.

The central location, extensive services, heated under-cover car park, and active marketing of the shopping centre boost the business activities of Prisma at Iso Omena. In the future, the construction of the metro extension, completion of entry ramps for Piispansilta from the direction of Helsinki, and the development of the Suurpelto area, to cite only a few examples, will bring an increased flow of customers to the shopping centre. The service offering of Iso Omena has been upgraded in a favourable way. Contact with tenants is open and positive. Iso Omena’s competitive edge is its reputation as a smart and safe retail centre.
Did you know that the toy collection campaigns organised at Citycon Shopping centres have collected tens of thousands of toys for the use of, for example, local day care centres?
