Citycon Oyj extends the Iso Omena shopping centre in Espoo by converting the roof-top car park into retail space. The project will result in 2,400 square metres of new leasable area.

Binding leasing agreements have already been signed for more than half of the new premises. Scheduled for opening in November 2012 is, among others, a new Intersport retail outlet, which will significantly increase Iso Omena's portfolio of sports and leisure products.

"The extension now under way is part of the long-term development of Iso Omena, which aims at a fresh and more varied offering on the second floor of the shopping centre", comments Marko Juhokas, Property Development Director. "It is also the first step towards a larger expansion, which will include the development of the future Matinkylä Metrokeskus."

Shopping Centre Manager Sanna Yliniemi adds: "I am glad that we are able to continuously expand and develop the commercial services of Iso Omena and to introduce new, interesting shops. The extension will boost Iso Omena's competetitiveness.“

Construction work on the extension project will commence immediately and the new premises will be completed by November 2012. Citycon will invest a total of MEUR 7.6 in the new retail premises. Iso Omena will remain open normally throughout the project.
