Citycon Oyj and JCDecaux Oy have signed a contract, by virtue of which JCDecaux will manage the leasing of digital advertising panels and bus shelter advertisements in Citycon’s shopping centres in Finland. The contract will be valid for 12 years, to enter into force at the beginning of 2013.

JCDecaux is an international company with extensive experience in high-quality solutions in advertising panels in Finland and abroad. Citycon aims to further increase the quality of indoor advertising surfaces and to focus the advertising carried out in the shopping centres.

 – A shopping centre in itself is a medium that is, literally, close to the customer: when the customer enters a shopping centre, he or she is already close to making a decision to purchase something. We aim to provide advertisers with opportunities to reach the customer through means that are increasingly high in quality and efficiency, either in an individual shopping centre or with a nationwide campaign, says Marko Ryhänen, who is responsible for Citycon’s speciality leasing business.

Citycon’s strategy is to develop and expand its speciality leasing business, i.e. leasing of special advertising space, audio advertising, promotional spots and temporary sales points in shopping centres. The company wants to increase their share in its rental income in the long term.

 – The contract with JCDecaux will contribute to the realisation of this strategy while providing a boost for the rental income of the specialty leasing business, says Senior Vice President Harri Holmström, who is responsible for Citycon’s leasing activities.
