Jakob Grønmo – I feel like an important part of the company

Career stories -

Jakob discovered his career path at Citycon Norway when his passion for real estate combined with his love for numbers. Today, Jakob enjoys his role as a Property Analyst, where analysis turns into tangible value for the company. His story shows that having the courage to seize an opportunity can open the door to a dream job.

After graduating from university, Jakob was not entirely sure which direction his career would take. On a friend’s recommendation, he started auditing, which felt like a safe choice. “I do not regret it at all because it gave me a broad perspective and I realised that real estate companies were genuinely interesting. It was a turning point for me or at least gave me a hint of what I wanted to do,” Jakob recalls. As an auditor, he got to know several real estate companies, but at the same time, he developed a desire to dive deeper into the world of numbers and make an impact through them.

When Citycon announced an opening for a Property Analyst in late summer 2025, Jakob did not hesitate to apply. “I just hoped to get the job and luckily I did,” he says with a smile. Now, as a Property Analyst, his work includes monthly sales reporting, contract renewals, and preparing reports for management. “The best part is seeing the results of my work easily, it makes the job exciting,” he explains. Jakob also finds it inspiring that his reports guide decisions and have a broad impact.

Although the role offers a lot of responsibility and ownership, Jakob especially values close collaboration with analysts in Sweden and Finland. “We have a small office in Norway, so you get to know everyone. That is really nice,” he says. After a few weeks on the job, Jakob also travelled to Finland to meet colleagues he works with regularly. According to Jakob, people are one of the best things about Citycon as the office atmosphere is friendly, and you can easily ask anyone for help.

Jakob encourages anyone interested in Citycon to apply courageously, even if they are not completely sure about their skills: “You learn quickly here and get responsibilities that make the work meaningful.”
