Stovner Senter provides opportunities for the youth – first mobile apple press opened in Norway

Urban hubs -

Local youth, Lif Laga organisation and Stovner centre joined forces in Stovner, Oslo. As a result, young people get an opportunity to try their wings in business and have a cosy place to meet people.

It is a beautiful and sunny autumn day in Stovner. The atmosphere is bubbly, as local community has gathered to celebrate the opening of the mobile apple press.

This is Norway’s first full scale mobile apple press and it is the youth at Stovner who are behind it. It is perhaps the most important part of the project that the youth feel they have a role to play, emphasises Åsmund Gylder, Project Manager at Lif Laga organisation.

Here where roosters are crowing, the youth have picked tons of apples and pressed delicious apple juice. The juice is bottled in a class bottle, decorated with an elegant label and transported to ‘Stovnerhagen’ shop at Stovner where the youth sell the juice.

The goal is to create a meeting place for young people and to give them an idea on how to run a business. We are proud to collaborate with the local organisation Lif Laga because it is very important that we contribute to the local community. We aim to make our shopping centres true community hubs, says Ifran Akram, Centre Manager at Stovner Senter.
